Over 50 years on the road
Leiv Sand Transport was founded in Levanger in 1975. Over fifty years we have grown steadily into a business with more than 100 employees and a modern fleet from Scania and Volvo.
We deliver road logistics across Europe, with the Nordics as our core region. A short hop to the E6 and a central location in Norway make us an efficient partner both northbound and southbound.

Fifty years in motion
- 1975Leiv "Jeppe" Sand founds Leiv Sand Transport
In 1975, 26-year-old Leiv Sand founded Leiv Sand Transport AS with a single rig. He had to hitchhike to Ålesund to pick up the first truck.

Demand and transport volumes grow. The company specialises in furniture transport. Leiv spends more and more time at the office at Gråmyra in Levanger rather than on the road.

Sons Morten and Arild become increasingly involved in day-to-day operations. Arild eventually takes over as managing director, while Morten becomes transport manager. Leiv himself continues as a driver. His wife, Turid Sand, is also a key figure in the company's daily operations.

As industry regulations for documentation and follow-up grow stricter, digital solutions are developed to stay on top of everything from driving and rest hours to breach and deviation handling, and more.
Real-time operational monitoring. - 2019Leiv Sand Transport AS, North branch is established
Leiv Sand Transport establishes a branch in Northern Norway to strengthen its services for new and existing customers in the North region.
- 2023Litra acquires 51% of Leiv Sand Transport AS
Leiv Sand Transport and Litra are two companies that each have a wide network and a strong reputation in the market. The companies have a long-standing collaboration, a shared culture and similar characteristics.
Litra AS is one of the Nordics' largest private transport operators. - 2025Leiv Sand Transport celebrates 50 years
- 2026Leiv Sand Transport AS takes over the DSV terminal in Tromsø
We take over the DSV terminal in Tromsø, and Nordlysterminalen is born. Operations continue as before with terminal and distribution. See also Nordlysterminalen.no
