Supplier Code of Conduct
Leiv Sand Transport AS strives to help improve human rights, labour rights and environmental protection in the company, in relation to our suppliers and sub-suppliers, and in relation to trading partners.
Every supplier we work with receives a copy of our code of conduct for suppliers, which outlines the requirements we have for our suppliers regarding hiring practices, labour rights, working conditions and environmental protection.
We will only work with companies that comply with the law and that meet the criteria in this code of conduct for suppliers, or can demonstrate that they are working towards them. Leiv Sand Transport AS reserves the right to carry out inspections, to speak with employees, and expects suppliers to comply with all applicable laws.
If a supplier does not meet the requirements in this code of conduct or refuses to cooperate in a time-bound improvement process, Leiv Sand Transport AS may terminate the relationship.
Scope
These guidelines apply to all suppliers of goods and/or services, including contractors, sub-suppliers and business partners, identified below as «Suppliers», who have a commercial and/or contractual relationship with Leiv Sand Transport AS.
Suppliers are encouraged to share the contents of this document with their partners, as well as to promote ethical conduct in their own supply chain that ensures compliance with these guidelines — both by their internal organisational structures and by their sub-suppliers — and to encourage compliance monitoring at all levels of the supply chain.
Laws, human rights and ethics
Suppliers are obliged to respect and comply with laws and regulations applicable in the countries where they operate. The requirement, however, goes further than laws and regulations. The guidelines describe Leiv Sand Transport AS' fundamental ethical principles and provide guidance on decisions and actions by Leiv Sand Transport AS' suppliers and their employees.
All suppliers to Leiv Sand Transport AS must also follow the 10 principles of the UN Global Compact:
- Support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights.
- Ensure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
- Uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining (including, but not limited to, pay, working hours and working conditions).
- Abolish all forms of forced labour.
- Effectively abolish child labour.
- Eliminate discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
- Support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
- Take initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility.
- Encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
- Actively work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
The guidelines outline the minimum standards suppliers must comply with, even when they are stricter than local legislation.
Suppliers are encouraged to embrace diversity among their employees. No employee must be subjected to discrimination or harassment with respect to political opinion, national or social origin, religion, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, gender or colour. All suppliers shall be committed to respecting the privacy of individuals and handling personal data responsibly and in accordance with applicable laws.
Working conditions
Leiv Sand Transport AS expects all suppliers to comply with all local, national and international regulations on working conditions and health, safety and environment regulations. Appropriate health and safety information and training shall be provided to workers. We are strongly opposed to the use of all forms of forced labour and any form of human trafficking.
The Transparency Act
Leiv Sand Transport AS operates in accordance with the Transparency Act, and we expect all suppliers to respect fundamental human rights and decent working conditions. We require cooperation on risk assessment from suppliers in our supply chain, and we encourage all suppliers to establish human rights guidelines. We expect all suppliers to implement risk assessment of human rights breaches in the supply chain.
Suspicion of human rights breaches in our supply chain shall be directed to Leiv Sand Transport AS.
Anti-corruption
Leiv Sand Transport AS will only do business with reputable suppliers that are involved in legitimate business activities with funds that come from legitimate sources. Suppliers must never knowingly accept, facilitate or otherwise support activities that are based on or linked to fraud, corruption, bribery or money laundering.
The environment
We strive to be part of the solution to reduce the carbon footprint (ESG report 2022), both locally and globally. Our guidelines commit us to invest in and act towards a goal of best practice by contributing to biological diversity and reducing climate change.
All suppliers to Leiv Sand Transport AS shall strive to minimise the impact the company's operations can have on the environment, in sea, soil and air. The consequences may include, but are not limited to, pollution, leakage of chemicals, nutrients, plastic, escape of fish, use of limited resources, deforestation, land-use change and freshwater use. Fish health and welfare, as well as the protection of wildlife, must be highly respected.
